Smart Meter
Smart Meter’s flagship cellular glucose meter. Gold-bearing test strips and a bright 36.6 × 49 mm color LCD pair with single-button operation and horizontal strip insertion, so patients get a result in five seconds without an app, WiFi, or pairing. Readings transmit over AT&T 4/5G CAT-M cellular through Smart Meter’s Private Data Network. Stores 500 readings with pre- and post-meal markers, shows averages across 7 through 90-day windows on the meter, and includes an airplane-mode setting for travel.

Gold-Standard Test Strips
Test strips containing real gold support the accuracy of every reading, the basis of Smart Meter’s gold-standard positioning for blood glucose testing.
Measurement Range 20–600 mg/dL
Measures blood glucose from 20 to 600 mg/dL. Readings outside this range display as HI or LO with guidance to repeat the test and contact a clinician.
5-Second Test Time
Returns a result in five seconds from a minimum blood sample size of 0.75 microliters.
Large Color Display
A backlit 36.6 × 49 mm color LCD shows the result, meal marker, battery, and connection status at a glance — easier to read than a monochrome segment display.
Hematocrit Range 20–60%
Validated across a hematocrit range of 20–60%, with no recalibration step for the patient.
Pre- and Post-Meal Markers
A Before Meal (full apple) or After Meal (eaten apple) marker can be attached to any reading, and the prompt can be switched on or off on the display.
Automatic Strip Coding
Auto-Code detects the test strip code automatically. No manual code entry required.
500-Reading Memory
On-device memory stores up to 500 readings with date and time.
On-Device Averages to 90 Days
Displays blood glucose averages across 7, 14, 30, 60, and 90-day windows directly on the meter.
Rechargeable Battery
Rechargeable 3.7V lithium-ion battery delivers approximately 500 tests per charge.
FDA Cleared
FDA-cleared blood glucose monitoring system for fresh capillary whole blood samples. Not approved for neonatal use, diagnosis, screening, or multi-patient use.
Connectivity
AT&T 4/5G CAT-M Cellular
Connected via AT&T’s 4/5G CAT-M IoT network. Data transmission is cellular only.
Private Data Network
Data is transmitted over Smart Meter’s Private Data Network, a closed transport between the device and the platform.
No App, No Pairing
Operates over cellular only. No Bluetooth, no app installation, no synchronization step.
Automatic Data Upload
Each reading is transmitted automatically after the measurement completes, with a connection icon on screen confirming cellular coverage.
Time and Date Set Over Cellular
The meter sets its time and date automatically from the cellular connection, so readings arrive correctly stamped without patient setup. Manual entry is available if needed.
Airplane Mode for Travel
An airplane-mode setting suspends transmission while flying; readings continue to be stored on the meter and upload once the mode is switched off.
EHR Integration
Readings flow from the device through the CareSimple platform into the connected EHR.
